Founded in March 2019 by three members of GREEN, Shareware is a simple and free reusable dishware loan program for student use. Each year, students host hundreds of gatherings, from small birthday parties to large-scale student club dinners and dances. Waste accumulated at these events from single-use disposables is completely avoidable. Starting in fall 2019 with Shareware’s pilot program at Berkeley College, students can rent sets of reusable, durable dishware and cutlery for free. Beyond the tangible impact of waste reduction on campus, Shareware will promote student awareness of how much is wasted each and every day.
